In a time of heartache and worry
giving to those in need gives hope, both near and far

help us cover the cost for a school nurse and medical emergency fund!

This Giving Tuesday we are addressing a need in our overall program - that of consistent health care and early identification of illness in our students. Two months ago, we had a 6 year old student —Marc Gregoire— die from pneumonia. We also have an 11 year old student —Roodley— with a damaged heart valve requiring him to be on five different medications until surgery can be performed. This heart condition most likely developed from an untreated strep throat. We also have been informed that most of our students are not immunized.

Since health care in Haiti is scarce and very costly, we believe a school nurse would provide the expertise to identify, assess, and manage our students’ health care issues. They could also initiate an immunization program and provide education to parents on illness and wellness management. In addition to the school nurse we want to establish a medical emergency fund to help with unexpected medical expenses.

Our dream for meeting our students’ needs is achievable with your support. Please help us to meet the students’ physical and healthcare necessities by supporting the cost of a school nurse and supporting the cost of unplanned medical needs. Help us turn the heartache of losing a student and concern for others into healing action and change.

Would you consider donating $100 towards the emergency medical fund, $300 to cover a month's salary for a school nurse, or $500 to cover a monthly medical clinic for the students & community? Any amount donated will help!
